Get that paper (work) — Nobody wants a lemon, and that includes us. You might be able to negotiate a few more dollars for your trade-in if you can prove it has been well-maintained. Getting records of oil changes and other repairs together will make this a lot easier.
Simple Things — Seemingly small defects can cost you a lot of money when it comes to trading in a vehicle. Make sure you replace burned out head and taillights. Also, consider spending a few dollars to have your vehicle professionally detailed. In many cases, this cost can easily be made up at the time of trade-in.
Keep it Bright — If your headlights work, but the lenses are dingy, clean them up. Also, properly applying a coat of wax to the exterior will make your vehicle look like it came right from the showroom. Remember to get soaps formulated for automotive use. Regular dish detergents can actually remove the protective finish from the paint job.
